Question Range of the Gravitational field

When a body is fired upward with escape V (i.e 11.2 km/s) then what will be the height when the body leaves the gravitational field?
I found by using formula
2gh=Vf^2 - Vi^2 keeping vf= 0 and vi=11200m/s then I got h=6400km= radius of the earth.
Is it range of the gravitational field?

No it is not the range of the grav field.

Grav field which isdefined as the grav force on a unit mass. Hence this becomes zero only at infinite distance.

And the formula used also is not apt, as we can have a final vel = 0 for a body which can then fall back. For it to really escape the field, its K.E. should be > its grav binding energy which gives us

(1/2) m v^2 = G M m / R.
