Default [Urgent, Help!~]Young's modulus VS Force constant

The experiment setup is as follows:

1) What are the precautions of the experiment(measuring Young's modulus of copper)?
2)As a parameter of mechanical property, why is Young’s modulus (defined by stress/strain) more useful than force constant (defined by force/extension) for material selection?
Thanks a lot!

(1) Force might not remain constant from the G-clamp.

(2) Young's modulus is more useful than the force constant, since the force constant is only constant within an ideal spring.

(1) You might not get a constant resistive force from the G-clamp because friction itself isn't always constant.

(2) If the string that connects the load to the wooden blocks is not an ideal spring, then the strain is a more reliable measurement.

Still a bit confused for (2)

This question actually is not for the experiment, but for the general case(material selection).

[LaTeX Error: Can't write to directory]

[LaTeX Error: Can't write to directory]

Setting this equal to Hooke's Law;

Since x = delta L,

So k is actually dependant on young's modulus.
